Taking pets to Hawaii is really difficult due to the islands lack of rabies and the resulting lengthy quarantine period for incoming animals

Actually I wasn't aware that there are slim chances for a shorter time but the version that I knew is the 120 day quarantine.
Very difficult for both animals and their people.
....and sadly what sticks in my mind is the probably colloquially (hopefully just exaggerated / urban legend?) of pets never making it out of quarantine....hopefully again urban legend but some of those due to broken hearts 8(
