An email from my BF’s Italian friend and counterpart that has some insight into the situation there

We are ok. Nobody of us is fortunately involved.
I hope you are ok too.

Lombardy has the highest infection.
Half of the people who die is located between Milan and Brescia. Bergamo is so beaten down. Too many people who need intense care. The equipments are not enough as it takes 15 days under hiperventilaton with this ventilators.
This is the critical part. More and more sick people means not ventilation to everybody so people die.
Before the severe measures the contagious had the opportunity to grow. Every 3 dats it doubles the infection.
In large populated areas/town like the north of Italy the virus spreads very fast and we count the infections only 15 days later.
So, I think we are about to the top of the hill. Or better, next week.
The italian government is going to introduce more restrictions today or tomorrow.
People is simply stupid and under evaluate the risk. Or they simply thinks that only aged people die. Not so completely true.
Parks and jogging is now banned.
The police is not enough to keep control..

In our Veneto region is a bit better but we do follow guidance and rules. Chances are we will not be in such situation like Bergamo.

At Verona Libri and Binderies everybody works. We cannot let anybody in (only the workrs can). Same for all the industrial plants.
Transportation and logistics work. It must work otherwise the chain of supply will break .... just think about food...

So, we are operating in our own isolation.
We download the paper from tracks but track drivers have to stay away and not let inside. Same for printed sheets out.

It is hard...to see what is happening around.
