today I had a couple deliveries where people ordered over the internet, paid with credit card on the website, and asked us to do things like "leave it on the porch and ring the doorbell" and related things to where there was no direct personal interaction. 1 guy came to the door and it was kind of awkward because he didn't want to open the door very far … but most people are pretty cool about it. obviously, we aren't getting too close to people … when it's a business or some such where it's socially appropriate to go inside, I generally greet the person(s) who ordered and then ask if there's a place they'd like me to put their order while they're signing the payment slip ...
