1) Russia is lying about its numbers. Full stop. They have a sudden "pneumonia" epidemic that started around the same time.
2) The United States has, uniquely among western nations, botched its response to COVID.
3) Russia isn't communist and hasn't been anything resembling communist since at least 1999 and perhaps 1992. It's no more communist than Poland or Hungary.
4) Any world leader would have shaken hands with Putin in the past 15 years. It's not a sign of anything, and besides, who's friendlier with Russia?
