This is just me and my wife. But if they released movies online the same day they did in theaters? We would never go to the theater again.

No doubt in my mind whatsoever. The theater experience is lower quality than our own home theater. From the prices, to the times you sit near a talker, to our last experience when someone kept checking their phone for texts. Also being able to pause to go to the restroom, get a snack during and pausing the movie.
There is no comparison to how much we enjoy watching a movie at home more than going out.
Now compare that to our enjoyment of going to a nice restaurant vs. cooking a nice meal at home, and we still enjoy the restaurant much more.
