The "everything is economics" crede has rotted capitalism for a long time, to the point of it being unsalvageable.

It's too bad, because there is a rational argument to be made that we have to make balanced decisions about health, policy, life/death, and overall well-being, as we all do, but now the tribes have barreled past that point too
