he said, paraphrasing, "i'm a historian. i look at events after they happen. it is impossible to predict or understand something until sometimes years later. "

that is kind of comforting to me. i cannot know what's happening in the moment, but we will eventually arrive at truths and understanding of what's happening not just now but in previous events for the past few years. it's hard not to get caught up in the moment and the frustration and desire for truths, but it's just not possible.
