I'm not sure you quite understand what's going on there entirely. Most people, of all levels don't like being cooped up inside all the time.

We all need to get out for awhile, not just for mental health but physical health. New York is pretty dense, without a lot of open space or even many trees in some areas, so Central Park is it for a big chunk of people. People with backyards can just go out the back door or walk, People who live in high rises in areas with other high rises can't.3
