that's literally how I started. May I recommend knitting washcloths? you will find so many patterns. No one cares if you make mistakes. Start with

simple pattern. work through every instruction that is confusing. If it sucks, rip it. I knitted shitloads of bad knitting. Shitloads. I threw shitloads in the trash and ripped hundreds and hundreds of rows. I don't give a fuck. I'll rip hundreds of rows of anything.
