Also, there's an immediate need that can't be filled with the purpose built invasive ventilators, so his donation WAS helpful AND informed

It takes time to set up, in Tesla's case, a solar panel factory to make ventilators. Afaik, they are working with ventilator manufacturers to build things.
Ford will have the same delay as they convert an auto plant to making ventilators
