I am one of the people who is saying that it will be extremely slow to get back to normal. Once the death toll gets into six digits in the USA...

Everyone is going to know someone who died.
Everyone is going to realize that large group settings are an imminent threat to their survival.
The result will be trauma-like caution and an aversion to large groups.
