I think an outward show of support to Will's mom might help heal things (or at least give you some moral high ground). Going to the hospital and bringing flowers or trying to help the rest of the family in some way could be good. Offering to help in ways when she gets home too. Bringing some meals etc. It may suck to do it if she doesn't appreciate it, but under the circumstances it's probably worth the effort.
