Just had company wide virtual meeting. Good news: Still employed. Interesting news: have to take off 12 days over April-June

A week in April, a week in May, two days in June. I get that will help the company as it will take my vacation days off the books but it sucks for those who don't have the time to cover.
Because of the labor laws in California, the weeks this month and next have to be actual weeks. Not like every Friday off but Mon-Fri as I guess the labor law says as an exempt employee I have to get paid for a full week or if being temp furloughed or locked out or asked to not work, that has to be on a full week basis. I was going to take more than a week of vacation this month between Coachella and two Vegas trips so I'll just use vacation days to cover the pay aspect of things.
The memo HR sent with additional details laid out the week at time from above as well as "...you may not perform any work. Including reading or answering emails."
Well, ok then. I wonder if I can realistically do that ;-)
I'm guessing it's not in my professional best interest to set an email responder along the lines: In a company dictated cost saving measure, I'm not working this week so legally I'm not reading your email nor responding until I return to WFH status on XX/XX
