They are incredibly dry, deadpan humor but it's my kind of absurdity. The first book is styled as an almanac of entirely made up trivia. He appeared on The Daily Show to promote the book and cracked up Jon Stewart so much that it led to him getting the Apple commercials job. He had never acted before.
The second book also includes made up facts, but also humorous reflections on literally overnight fame in your late 30's, plus a page-a-day calendar of made up facts.
The third book explains how to be a Deranged Millionaire and what to do before (and when) the world ends.
I also recommend the audiobooks if you've got Audible or the like. They were also my introduction to Jonathan Coulton.
