I worry that 'compassion' is being redefined as 'never confronting or correcting anyone, no matter how disruptive and dangerous their behavior may be'

...because, you know, they might potentially be having a bad day or something.

It's like showing 'compassion' to grandma by not taking her driver's license away (think of her feelings!) until she mows down a 10-year-old.

I agree there are nicer ways to do this closer to Andie's method than Stephen's (which would admittedly be far more satisfying, and probably more effective), but simply ignoring bad behavior isn't 'compassion'.
