It's super common in European cities for people to have a tiny fridge, sometimes just a cube. Culture expects fresh ingredients for everything. -- (edited)

In the US I pretty much do the same, even though I have a big fridge. I'm just one person, so it makes no sense to buy a lot of perishables. My habit is to buy small amounts of groceries every few days because everything is fresh. What I'm really bad at is meal planning for one person. Am I supposed to make a batch of one thing and eat only that for three days?
