In response to "I have an answer for you. But first, looking back at that, I think we started to talk about two different things and I'll take partial blame for that." by crash davis

Would you care to share the empirical data, out of curiosity?

Certainly, I believe that the measures that some groceries stores NOW take are good ideas and help. I'm just saying the risk does not go down to 0. If we believed they go down to 0, we'd just implement them in every single business where it's possible (like retail stores for examples).

But we don't. Instead, we believe the risk is to a low level enough that the risk is tolerable because of how important that activity is. That is how we measure EVERYTHING in this pandemic, pretending otherwise (or doing otherwise) is folly. The same applies for meat plants, even allowing the risk to be greater. The benefit is also greater.

Of course, the maximum possible safety measures should be taken at those plants. As I said above, it's insane and shameful if we have not put them for them from day 1. But food processing plants are as if not more essential than grocery stores.

I'm not really sure what you are arguing or disagreeing with, I apologize if you haven't been clear.
