So, we’ve been the nearly victims of a scam. They’ve tried twice so far.

Someone got my wife’s credit card information and rather than using it all over the place, they have placed two separate orders at Wayfair for pretty large items. ($800-$1000)
What was confusing at first is that the items were meant to be shipped to us at our home address. So it felt like a mistake and not a scam. My wife got the email notifications from the credit card and Wayfair so she stopped the shipments.
I guess the idea behind the scam is they order the goods and have them sent to you, then a while later they send you the return labels but the address isn’t Wayfair or Best Buy or whatever, it is to a holding house that they then use to accumulate goods and sell, then change addresses.
Seems overly complicated but I’m sure it works. If you didn’t notice and received something you didn’t order, your focus would be on getting it returned and not necessarily where you were returning it to.
