I am not a stock broker, nor do I know the stock prices of either but there is a major difference between them

think of Home Depot as Walmart and Lowe's is the Target.
Home Depot is cheaper, easier in/out, always someone to help you. Its where contractors go with cheap labor and cheap do it yourself ers - Lowes is higher end products - and its less crowded.
I'd say Home Depot will win the home improvement store wars - is there enough profit in the stocks to go around? probably but Home Depot will be having the banner quarter. not Lowes. in my very humble opinion

And then there is Menard's, which is probably a midwest thing. It's cheaper than Home Depot with a lack of quality to match. -- nm

Lowe's also used to specifically target women as an underserved market given HD's propensity to contractors.

I would agree with your analogy, too. However, Our Lowe's have been super packed as well. -- nm
