Those of us who want to play Idiocracy should remember: the numbers that get shown on the tee vee machine are overall cases and overall deaths period. -- (edited)

The nightly news with the graphic over the anchor's shoulder doesn't deal with percentages of anything.
When you test more people, you get a higher number of cases and a higher number of deaths because they know the cause faster.
So when STers make these posts with # cases/# deaths in their state period end of sentence, these are good questions to ask. Is your state being smart about who gets tested (high risk people without symptoms, for example)? Or worse, is the fix in? Is your state on purpose AVOIDING testing nursing homes and prisoners precisely because they want to keep those two Nightly News numbers low?
