Are anxiety attacks and panic attacks the same thing? I think I had one the other day and I'm asking for a friend... -- nm

my understanding, having had both, is that anxiety you generally know the source of, panic you do not.

I would have thought it was the other way around, but like Pippy says below, Panic: sudden gripping fear, Anxiety: drawn out over time fear.

For me they are interchangeable, but I'm probably being sloppy. There are some attacks that come out of nowhere. -- nm

sort of. Panic ones come from no where sort of out of the blue and SUDDEN. Anxiety ones can built to a high intensity and sort of linger around
