It would have excelled at the box office. However, it wouldn't have earned any income for 17 months.

Disney's in win now mode with its streaming service. Due to vertical integration, the company nets $5.56 for every $6.99 subscription.
With other planned series and movies shut down by the pandemic, Disney can market Hamilton as a reason to stay this summer. It's just become the most significant streaming title of the quarter.
That should juice subscription numbers, which are already at 54.5 million. For perspective, that's $300 million a month in net profit.
Deadline just wrote a series that demonstrated how only eight films released in 2019 netted more than that total.
Hamilton would have done extremely well later. Now, it'll carry Disney+ this summer instead.
