The Republicans have been investigating Presidents for nonsense stuff since Clinton. We just went through impeachment hearings that had a 0% chance of getting traction. Yet it was done anyway.
This is just political grandstanding. Paul should be ashamed of himself, but I fail to see where this is breaking new moral ground.
