government, sowing distrust in the institution which provides a cover for creating something more resembling an oligarchy or dictatorship than anything we've ever known. It's been an ongoing process of investigating the investigators, firing independent inspector generals, ignoring subpoenas and any oversight whatsoever, not filling vacancies within government that require Senate approval and instead putting in acting heads of departments that are cronies and leaving them there as long as possible. And it's being aided and abetted by the rest of the party who latch onto insane conspiracy theories and spread them among the public sowing more confusion, distrust and unjustified what aboutism. Government is barely recognizable, but 4 more years will cement it as the norm. It's a process of breaking things down that we're now 3 years into. It is very different than what you describe. It sneaks through as normal because it resembles things you're familiar with, but it's not the same and has to be viewed in the larger context.
