Right now, and this should change, "planning around" short range charging needs is HARD.

VERY hard.
There are a fair number of charging *locations*, but they rarely have more than 4 actual chargers. They're also rarely fast chargers.
So the issue becomes: are the charging stalls unoccupied, how long will it take to charge enough to reach the next charger, and are the chargers themselves working.
There are third party apps that track those things, but you will add significant time to your travel if you have to rely on those chargers.
