Moderately interesting from a friend in Hong Kong on opening schools for the first time since January.

At the school, they alternate days, half the kids at a time. So S will go M/W/F one week and T/Th the next with her full class, spread across 2 classrooms ("I'll have my own desk!"). Half the kids means half the kids on buses, so it's easier for them to social distance on the bus. Virtual learning is still in place for the days she's not at school. They have to wear a mask at all times, and take spare masks and hand sanitizer, their own reading books, their own pencils + crayons, a "wipeable toy" for recess, each labeled with her name; we take her temperature before leaving home and also at the school, no library time, no jungle gyms, PE once a week. Lunch is usually in the classroom, but instead it will be in the assembly hall, each child at her own desk. Lots of new rules and procedures, and so much excitement to go back! The school has done a great job preparing the kids for how school will be different, and she really is so happy, the new normal doesn't seem to phase her.
