It's a good news/bad news scenario.

The good news is that given how much of a mess Republicans have made of things, Democrats should be in power for at least the next dozen years or so.
The bad news is that a Jimmy Carter situation may be developing since an Obama regime will immediately be left with Bush's disasters.
