He's a U.S. Senator. I think that is credence enough (regardless of what I think about him as a person, his morals and ethics, etc.).

If he was some nutbag executive director of a crazy right-wing organization, I'd be right there with you. Or if he was Steve Bannon, Tomi Lehren, or part of that ilk, I'd be right there with you, too.
