Yeah...I was gonna rant and rave about this but it's actually right. The data portrayed is change from previous month and with the scale all out wack

to accommodate the 20.7M number, it kind of looks worse. The presentation as an overall line is probably the biggest problem and doesn't apply to the data.
So with that 20.7M, all the previous data gets compressed to almost noise around to zero as it is in the hundreds of thousands.
The connecting line totally obscures that these are relative datapoints and make it look instead like an absolute which it isn't.
If we're gonna go info graphics, perhaps bar chart?
The more I think about it, the more annoyed I am with this chart as it is accurate but presented in a super meaningless if not outright misleading way. At the same time, it is accurate but I worry that our education system hasn't done their work in prepping the public to be able to read it.
