If what you're saying were statistically significant, it would spike the overall state number, and consequently the overall U.S death total as well.

Sites like Johns Hopkins and worldmeters usually will explain those corrections in text.
I have no doubt overall deaths for COVID19 are underreported here and worldwide, but I also have no doubt the trends are coming down in the U.S.
