I’ve told this story before. Back in the mid90s, I had ADT Security.
I also had a standing agreement with several friends that they should spend the night in my basement if they were drinking rather drive home.
Several friends took advantage of that offer. When a black friend did it, the cops came. Not ADT, the *police*. Every other time I had an issue — and we tripped that fucking alarm a lot — an ADT person called or came.
I suspect a lot of people have willingly had blinders on with this issue.
If I call the cops, I know they will come. I know people who will NOT call the cops for fear of being treated like criminals.
