drove to Quebec several times a year. This was the first and only time that *I* did the drive from Boston area to Quebec, with my sister as passenger. It was super super fun. She has ZERO sense of direction and is terrified of driving. She never drives on any trip longer than 2 hours. It was the first time we did the family drive with no father or brothers. we had so much fun. So. In vermont, we were close to the border, and we wanted lunch. We wanted McDonalds. We took the exit and found a fast food restaurant. This was literally on the border. Tiny town. I drove over the border by accident, and then accidentally landed at a tiny US Customs. I pulled over, was confused, started to drive away, the dude yelled HEY, STOP. I stopped and I said to Liz, "OK, Liz, we're stupid." she got it. We were stupid. We are both very, very good at being stupid. we fake argued about our dad wanting to kill us for this. We said WE'RE SO SORRY! our dad is gonna kill us!
so, yeah. it worked.
