I was going to crack wise about the generations difference between the bomber and interceptor but the I remembered that the US still flies the B-52

as our primary bomber. As well as plans to fly them into 2050 which would make them our first century airplane

those refueling tanker planes date back to the Korean war and are still prop planes, plans for new jets have been throttled in corrupt bidding 20 year -- nm

Tankers are a mess but they're a little more recent than that 8-) They've been jets since uh, well 707 days but

I live just off the end of the runway at McChord afb, they still fly the kc135 for the cargo jets support -- nm

but we don't bomb like that anymore, now we fire cruise missles from 1000 miles away, use stealth jets for smart bomb targeting -- nm

That cruise missile thing is one of the missions that keeps the B-52s as part of the active inventory -- nm
