I've been making this case for the last few days to any receptive audience in our gov't and to at least one person I want to see run for Premier...

...When the job opens up in a year or two:

People aren't as protective of cops anymore when almost any one of their issues - bike thief, car rummaged, garage broken into, fence vandalized, speed enforcement in neighbourhoods - gets ignored with no practical way to enforce the law. They are seeing more drug-related crime in suburbia (where the votes are) and they aren't trained to believe that more cops equals less crime anymore.

The pendulum is changing. There's a sound conservative argument to be made for police/justice reform. I want to see us get in front of it.
