Hey Gwaa -
didn't want you to think I forgot about you. You mentioned that you'd be in town on 6/22 and asked for some info about places to stay. if you look at the map of austin you'll see that interstate 35 divides the city in half. for safety's sake just don't go east of I35 while you're here. the crime rate skyrockets on the east side.
by far the nicest places to stay for visitors are downtown somewhere between the colorado river and state capital. If you're going to check out the music scene the driskill hotel is right on 6th street. Another nice place is the Radisson on cesar chavez a few blocks south of 6th st. Both of these run about 200-220 a nite. the radisson includes free parking. the cheapest place I'd recommend staying downtown is the la quinta on 11th st. it's across the street from the state capital. it runs about 109 and they charge another $13 for parking. the driskill is running special rate of half off sunday nites in june.
AS far as bar-hopping on a monday nite it's kinda slow. your best bet is 6th st between congress and red river. there're dozens of clubs.
