I have known a FEW poly. I observed several things.

First thing I observed was that at least one member experienced childhood sexual abuse.

Second, there is usually one partner who verbally agrees to go along with it in order to keep the other partner, but are not into it.

Third, I twice found out that two poly people I knew molested the kids.
