Sure, but if those increases in positive cases don't result in hospitalization or death, then that increase is really moot.

They should correlate then to more hospitalizations / deaths, but if they don't, then 10,000 positives compared to 20,000 positives, makes no difference if the +/- each day for hospitalizations is 400 per day, and deaths are 20 per day.

It's when hospitalizations jump to 800 per day and deaths go to 40 per day is when people will start taking notice again.
