Call of Duty Mobile's new season launched yesterday (they had delayed it a bit because of BLM). Radioactive Agent, it's called.

One of the new features is a frigging tank that gets air dropped toward the end of the match, when there are about 20-30 people left.

My first round playing with the new version, I happened to be flying a helicopter when the tank drop landed right next to me. At that point I had racked up 5 kills, but sure, I thought, a tank might help.

I got 6 more kills with the tank. Utterly pummelled the remaining players.

First place. WINNER.

...

A couple matches later, I had the reverse experience. I was in survival mode, working my way across the map using the Airborne perk (spawns a device that rockets me into the air so I can glide around). Someone else got to the tank before I could, so I took on a new strategy.

Throughout the maps are a handful of fortified lookout towers. I was able to use Airborne to glide from one tower to the next, and stay protected from the tank inside the towers as the map shrank around me.

After each jump, I'd hide out for a minute or so. I could hear other players running around, and I could hear the tank driving around and firing shells.

Occasionally a player would try to take refuge in the tower and I would quickly dispatch them.

Eventually, it was just me, and the tank, and one other dude.

I launched into a glide and started circling around the remaining very small map area. I came in for a landing behind a small boulder the size of a large boulder. On the other side was the tank, spinning the turret around to try and get me.

I tossed a frag grenade. I tossed a flashbang. I tossed a smoke grenade. I tossed a nova gas grenade. All my throwable projectiles. The tank got one shot off ... and suddenly my health was down to 60%, but somehow I wasn't dead. He'd missed - mostly.

I got out my primary weapon, which happened to be an LMG. Fired off almost an entire clip at the tank ... and somehow that was enough to kill it. I had 20 rounds left in that magazine, but I had just killed a frigging tank.

Now it was down to me and that one last guy. I switched to my secondary weapon, an SMG, then spawned a new Airborne launcher and took off. More circling - very tight circles as the map was even smaller.

I could see the character running around on the map. I knew from previous experience of being snuck up on that if I landed behind him, he'd hardly hear me. Success! I emptied my SMG clip at him ... and hit mostly air.

Crap. Surely I was dead.

But then I remembered those 20 rounds in the LMG. Quickly tapped to switch over, and BAM.

First place. WINNER.
