I don't actually know all that much about places to stay in vancouver. UBC is good. very nice location, and will be pretty quiet in the summer.

close to the concert venue too. not really within walking distance of anything (except the UBC museum of anthropology, which is great) so ideally have a car, but the buses are easy too. bus to the festival will be no problem. other than that, the only places I really know are the ones people on business used to stay in downtown, but they were a little on the pricey side, and the Granville island hotel, which is pretty fantastic.
other than that I can really only provide general area advice. if you're staying downtown (the north side of false creek), probably don't get a place northeast of about georgia and seymour. chinatown is great and all, but I wouldn't get a hotel there. on the south side of false creek, anything north and west of about cambie and 16th will be in a fairly good location. I also know a million good restaurants, if you need any recommendations.
