overhead door, it's quite possible that it was just a pull loop that has the appearance of being a noose and wasn't put there to target Bubba.

I've seen plenty of pull cords that have a loop at the end. Not having seen this one, I'm not sure if it uses a hangman's knot. which would be out of the ordinary.
