When you say move away what are the option besides this awful rule and ties? Baseball is wonderful for so many reasons but one is that there's

no clock. To institute rules that end the game in a tie or put runners on base that haven't earned them is to change the game dramatically.
Extra innings that goes very long isn't a real problem in normal years as they don't happen all that often.
For this year they can end it in a tie but to do what they're doing is wrong and worries me that they'll want it going forward.
