Yes, they're reasoning is to shorten the game and it's not a virus safety thing. They thinking is that they'll have to play a lot of games in

a row and if a game goes 15 innings the teams will have used a lot of pitchers and with so many games in the following days with no rest it could be a problem.

I get that but the answer is to expand rosters or end games in a tie for the regular season. Don't change the game by putting players on base that haven't earned it.

It's going to be so boring too. You'll get a bunt to start the inning and then a sac fly and the run scores. It will be so easy to get the run in.
