My daughter is entering junior year at Roosevelt U. in Chicago. She is in the acting conservatory (BFA) program. As feared, the school has decided ALL

training will be done remotely first semester. They could not come up with a compromise or other options for class sizes that average 15 students. This seems to be their final decision. It's upsetting as they are ignoring state and city guidelines that would allow face to face learning in phase 4 and 5. Here is some of their logic, which I understand, but it does not seem they worked at any alternatives:
*All acting, singing, & dancing training will be remote. He (the dean) said the main problem is that all three spread aerosols to a high degree, & the RU room sizes, windows, & air exchange rates are not adequate. He said teachers and many parents are concerned about safety. No tuition discount. Teachers will have better cameras & technology for virtual classes.*
The parents group I'm in will continue discussion with the administration but they seem pretty set on this.
