You're right about next year, but I don't think Andy Reid minds the idea of restocking the roster with Mahomes-adjacent players.

After all, that's why they drafted Edwards-Helaire. If the cap crashes next year, it'll effect like 28 teams, and the other four are too cheap to do anything with the competitive advantage.
