I've thought about adding triathlons to my repertoire, but it's always been the bike expense that's held me back.

That's a big expense if I wind up not liking it or not using it. Of course, right now the pool would be another issue. I would think the actual swimming is probably safe, but things like going into the gym, the locker room, etc. would be the bigger concerns.
