stress also can cause tummy issues. and for what it's worth, when dogs have major tummy issues or major bladder issues, they can mix up the pooping and peeing thing. that's happened to Angel too.

as far as the hiding thing goes and based on what you said about strong pooing instincts, i really think he didn't *want* to go in the house but couldn't control himself for whatever reason.
