Thanks Florida. EZPass (or iPass in IL, same thing) only works on roads around Orlando. For other roads you need their stupid toll pass.

Only Florida could make this more difficult than it has to be.
Responses:
I have SunPass on our cars and have never had an issue anywhere. Also, there's not many places you *need* to take a toll road.

It looks like from Atlanta we can get around it coming down the coast. Going to Huntsville Google won't route us around the Turnpike.

Yeah, Florida's Turnpikes are really just bonuses - or to get around rush hour areas.

We approve zoning for a bunch of people to move here, but don't have a high enough gas tax to build the roads they need. -- nm

It kind of pisses the socialist in me off. I pay taxes for roads, ergo, when we need more roads, they should build them.

The problem typically is lack of existing budget to pay for the widening/new road upfront. So they finance them with toll revenue. -- nm

Right, but I still think once they make that back, they should remove the tolls.

I agree. I don't know the specifics of the toll authority in FL but I would hope toll revenue is specifically set aside for roads under them. -- nm*

Ah if I tell Google to avoid the tollway it will. For some reason it wouldn't give me that as one of the options. -- nm

Yeah usually it will give you a toll and non-toll option in Chicago so I was confused. -- nm

? This doesn't make sense. The toll pass goes across state lines. -- nm

FL/GA/NC all work together but don't follow EZPass/iPass.

Yeah, I was going to say I've never seemed to have a problem, but maybe that's why.

The do toll-by-mail I think, but just wait until you see that they charge out-of-state plates more -- nm

IL charges double if you pay cash (that's why we have iPass) so I wouldn't be shocked by that. I just assumed it would *work*

OMG, it's worse than that. There are *interchanges* where it will work with ramps on one side of the highway but not the other.
