Depending on the circumstances I think most parents don't think it's a much greater inconvenience for you.

All the stuff is at their house. The kid breaks something it's their stuff broken and not yours. The kid may be easier to deal with at their house than yours when the toy they want didn't come with them, or they don't have their favorite blanket or something. If you tell them it's inconvenient and you'd rather do it at your place that's perfectly fine, but they don't think they're putting you out more. They think they're making it easier for everyone including you.
