So....mebbe I watched Last Christmas too closely (geez, it was like an instant intervention) so haven't had a second viewing. So I've found

Restaurant to Another World which is an animated series. I stopped myself after four episodes last night but so far have found it to be a a completely charming show. Little choppy as the framework of the door to the restaurant showing up in a different world every episode and being introduced to new character(s) per episode has it's constraints but still really entertaining.

I love and amazed by the detailed descriptions that the characters monologue upon eating for the first time. Something similar to what I heard in Food Wars!

So switching train of thought, are there English language series that play up the actual eating of food? Describing what it is (the ingredients, spices etc), how it tastes, why it taste like that and play up how much the eater enjoys the food? To me, the food shows that I'm familiar with are how to cook it or perhaps more prevalent competition shows, or biographical about the cook or place.

Or even not directly about the food but do have those detailed description and that the food is a central part of the overall series drama.

I ask because I've watched Tokyo Diner: Midnight Stories, Food Wars! and now my start into Restaurant to Another World. Tokyo Diner is not specifically about the food but every episode is named after and features a dish. Food Wars! has the most insane dishes and super detailed descriptions about how the food is made and how that prep will make the food taste and vice versa. Restaurant to Another World has the detailed descriptions of eating the food.

And while I'm undoubtedly on some type of rant, I can't really think of English language equivalents of this.

Heh, heh. Though there is Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. Perhaps that the American version. It's not practical to have a series based around a diner or a cooking school where the food is at least half of the subject but watching Guy going on about what looks to be just delicious foud...mebbe that the US. Cause for all his perceived faults, he talks about how things are made and does his best to describe how it tastes. Well and he might as well be an animated character
