League is 5 year cycles.
You have the initial draft. You get 32 years of contracts to give out. So you can draft a guy and give him a 5 year deal and keep him the whole time but the deal goes wherever he does so if he sucks, you can’t trade him.
It’s great because you are always playing. Nobody gives up. You can trade guys to get cap room, etc.
At the end of the season, actually before the draft, you can franchise tag one guy meaning you keep him for one year and he’s automatically back in the draft the following year. You also get one RFA designation. Everyone bids on them with their available years and you can match if you have rhe ability.
So much strategy. I love it. Regular leagues are boring.
